Never ignore a gut feeling, but never believe that it is enough

We all get gut feelings, that feeling in the pit of your stomach that tells you something right before a decision, but do all of us listen to these gut feelings. There are those who dismiss a gut feeling and use rational thinking which at times is a good thing to do. Then there are others here are those who would trust their gut and follow it and its feelings wherever they go. Listen to your gut but also to never just listen to it.

It is important to realize that at a certain point in life planning ,and rational thinking will only get you so far: It is important to realize that life is random, many things will be thrown your way ,and sometimes it is best to just make decisions on the fly. Your life cannot be planned so that is when you should use your gut. The purpose of the gut feeling is to so that your gut will make the decisions that you can’t. So listen to it it is part of your body and many a times you will find that your guts decisions turn out very well for you. Your gut probably knows you best after all it is apart of your body.

Then, it is also important to realize that your gut’s opinion is not the only one that counts. Just because you have a gut feeling does not mean it is enough. If you do want to make it far in life you have to plan and think. If we made every decision on a whim then sure, half of them would be good decisions but half of them could be bad. It is important to know that your gut doesn’t always know what is best so remember to get a second opinion on things because those opinions can help you to.

So, it is important to listen to your gut but also to other things besides your gut. It is all about balance listing to one while respecting the other. It is the same as in life, so if you can do that you will go very far indeed.

Final Thoughts

I do know that in times like these it is easy to appear like a profound thinker and look refective. Then as soon as that time is over you go back to your “normal” life you are the same and have not truly reflected on yourself.  So I will try for the remainder of this post to be genuine and honest for your sake so you will not have wasted your time.

At the beiginining of this whole camp, experience I was very stoic about the media, sure it is in my life all the time but I never really paid attetion to it. Then as the days went on and I got talks from point park Professor Dave Grande and seeing KDKA news Anchor

2 Days In Pittsburgh(Continued)

I felt after the first day of wonder and amazement that nothing would be able to surprise me, as usual I was wrong. When my still tired eyes flew over the scheduled today and I saw that we were going to the Penguins Arena I was hooked and my energy levels where up. Before that I got some legendary teaching about journalism. Things I never even new about. Before I just thought that you take a couple pictures and write a couple lines and big bang boom you have got an article. Now whenever I read the paper I can fully appreciate the work that these journalist do. Even when I just had to write a small article I my brain was fried. Now I realize that these journalist do not just make on article but thousands every year day after day without end.

Then after a hearty lunch we went on to the main event the tour of the Arena. It was an odd feeling being at that place and there was no hockey being played not even ice in the arena. It was being taken down for a concert. Then we got some helpful tips from the great Tom McMillian his job seemed like a one that would be very tough but he seemed to love every bit of it. Even with the switch between the Console Energy to Pittsburgh Paints in the middle of the year he still loves his job. He gave us helpful tips and quotes like “find yourself through your job” and “you must have a thick skin in this business.” We even got to go down to the hallowed halls were greats have walked and see the area where they play and where they walk before a game. Also having the privileged of seeing Mario Lemieux  equipment and many awards. It was truly awe inspiring and a great day in the city.

2 days in Pittsburgh

Just two days in the Pittsburgh downtown area and the memory in my phone is almost full. It is in times like these when I wish I had a 2nd phone and better sight so I would be able to capture and appreciate this city to the fullest extent.

The first day my lenses in my phone did not seem large enough as I tried to capture the view off of Mt. Washington. The view was breathtaking(as well was looking down over the railing). Truly if you were a traveler coming to Pittsburgh this is the best way to see what our city is all about. The way the sun glisten off the water and the downtown buildings it making the whole city shine like  a diamond. The way the billowing white clouds streched over the rolling hills of green made you feel as if someone had made this image just for you, and how the blue sky seemed to be watching over all of this completing the picture making you feel part of a whole.  I couldn’t help feeling sad as we were leaving and as I looked out the back of the window and hearing the familiar click clacking of the incline I couldn’t help but want to run back as if the sound was calling my name inviting me back to serenity and peace.
